About the Event
Join the Norskevenner Lodge in April for an evening exploring one of Norway’s most extraordinary wartime stories—the Gunnerside mission. The Norwegian heavy water sabotage (Bokmål: Tungtvannsaksjonen; Nynorsk: Tungtvassaksjonen) was a series of Allied-led efforts during World War II to stop Nazi Germany’s production of heavy water (deuterium) at hydroelectric plants in occupied Norway. The operation combined the bravery of Norwegian commandos with strategic Allied bombing raids and played a critical role in disrupting Germany’s nuclear ambitions.
As we learn about this daring mission, attendees are invited to bring a dish to share and enjoy an evening of history, fellowship, and conversation. Everyone is welcome.
